pondering.

It takes doses of cynicism and loads of heart-hardening to steel yourself for the inevitable decision of leaving everything familiar and dear to you, for something entirely new and uncertain but one that could possibly change your life as you know it.

discarded

shoes.

did summer cleaning early on and deemed 6 pairs of shoes discarded. didn’t know why i took a pic of them. maybe i just don’t want to forget them completely that easily. these shoes have been with me for so long and through so much. and each has an interesting story to tell…

like the first pair i bought when i was a college freshman. this really was a cool vintage pair, violet suede and lace-up low cut with 1.5″ wedge heels. wore it througout the next couple of years and now it’s still good though the suede is frayed at some places. what i can remember when buying this was that i was with my friends/blockmates in sm city. i can recall jojo, yas and aida.

then this gray pair of slip-ons. or slippers really, with closed rounded toe. this was on sale in esprit, ali mall and i just couldn’t pass it up. really comfy and great when walking around UP.

a cousin gave this pair of tan/beige loafers that’s heaven to walk on. she bought this in japan and gave it to me along with an orange suede birks-lookalike slippers that i loved so much i wore it till it tore.

got a pair of soooo cute black, leather mary jane flats back when it wasn’t even the rage as it is now. bought it from people are people, shangrila i think. it has this cool garter detail crisscrossing and i wore till the sole cracked a couple of months ago.

then my nike acg. flood, rain, mud, dirt. it has been through it all. and now its sole is hanging wide open after a furious match of badminton just a month ago. a mr. quickie trip would heal it easily. but i’m letting it rest for now.

and my chunky black, square-toed 2″ boots. its skin is peeling in some areas and i decided to let it be for now. i used this often when i was working in ortigas years ago for my first-ever architectural firm. got another boots that i could use, also very memorable as i wore this when i had my teaching demo for UPMin. and got into a minor accident going down CHSS building. this one is pointed shaped but with a small square toe and faux snake skin.

looking at them all now, i realized these were just some that i could let go that time. i still have a big box full of shoes that one day i still have to go through and discard some again. Half of these i think i bought with an ex-boyfriend and the other half with friends or by myself after long hours of decision-making and choosing.

well. kind of another batch of baggage to let go. and my room is now neater and more organized and i will have bigger room for more shoes. and bags =)
